Mission Statement

As the aviation industry increases and the demands for safe travel in general aviation aircraft becomes a priority, the MAPA Safety Foundation focuses its entire efforts on aviation safety. We foresee a progressively increasing role as more and more people take to the skies, embarking on a mode of travel for personal and or business use.

We specialize in promoting safety and recurrent training for pilots who fly the Mooney Aircraft. We offer a compendium of services to the pilot in the form of both ground and flight instruction. We also promote aviation safety through articles, speeches, scholarships and other activities. The MAPA Safety Foundation is a Non-Profit Organization and we fund our operations through fees and tax-exempt donations from the Mooney community.

Background

With its inception in the 1980s the MAPA Safety Foundation has steadily grown to hold Pilot Proficiency meetings four to five times a year in various parts of the country. Other programs are also included each year, such as high altitude training. Locations are selected for MAPASF programs to meet the needs of all of the pilots in the Mooney fleet. Each region of the country is represented. Ground school is conducted in comfortable hotels and FBO’s, which have facilities compatible with state-of-the-art audiovisual aids and training equipment.

The foundation employs the newest methods of teaching, and incorporates the latest information available to the aviation community. The flight training environment is in the individual pilots’ own aircraft, and instructors are chosen with ample experience in the type of Mooney flown by the participant. Each instructor is chosen from a large database, and only those that fit the needs of the foundation and meet stringent criteria are allowed to become MAPASF instructors.
